San Pedro is pleased to serve as a host town for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015. We will provide recreation, entertainment, and cultural exchange for one or more participating national delegations from July 21 to July 24.
The announcement was made on Battleship Iowa on October 17. We are now working on plans and raising funds to support our activities on behalf of the athletes and their chaperones.
San Pedro has two outstanding beaches, each with its own natural features and character.
Plus we're close to miles and miles of other great beaches, surfing, watersports, and much more.
Cabrillo Beach has a long expanse of calm, sandy shoreline, protected by the Los Angeles Harbor breakwater. But move just outside the breakwater and you’ll find open waters that are renowned for their great windsurfing and other water sports. This area is known as Hurricane Gulch because of its strong (but not really hurricane strength) winds.
