Admiral Risty Celebrating 50 Years and Going Strong
What’s it take for a restaurant to reach 50 years? The answer is hard to come by because so few restaurants achieve that milestone.
But the Admiral Risty has and it’s better than ever as it celebrates its golden anniversary in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Owner Wayne Judah has been with the Admiral Risty for the past 41 years, joining the crew in 1969 as a bartender following a tour of duty in Vietnam. Nine months later he was promoted to General Manager, a job he has embraced and enjoyed.
And it shows in the restaurants menus and operations. Wayne was instrumental in developing many guest favorites including the award-winning Cioppino, House Cured Salmon Gravlax, and the house baked quick breads and sourdough breads.
This is a restaurant that consistently wins awards. Everything about it is five-star, and that’s certified by its many honors from the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association and many other organizations.
With its stunning views of the Pacific Ocean—you can often see whales passing by—the site seems a natural for a restaurant. But 50 years ago when legendary Southern California restauranteurs Ralph and Risty Wood started the place, it seemed like it was at the end of the world.
Through the years, though, it has become a special occasion restaurant for many generations of families not just from the Palos Verdes Peninsula, but throughout the region.
Something that never gets lost among the history, though, is the food. From fine seafood to its specialty steaks, fresh breads, and decadent desserts, everything on the menu is prepared with care and a standard that has kept diners returning.
Take a look at the menus at the links below and you’ll see why.
And during this anniversary year, the Admiral Risty is giving away weekly prizes. Drop by or visit the website for information.
