CRAFTED: The Year-Round Crafts Marketplace
CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles is a very special place. It is both a creative reuse of old port facilities, opening up what was once industrial for public enjoyment, and it is a haven for artists and those who appreciate arts and crafts.
CRAFTED is a new concept for Southern California: a large-scale permanent handmade artisan marketplace. It’s housed in the classically restored 1940s-era Warehouse No 10 and is home to more than 100 individual artists, crafters, and food makers, each presenting their unique handcrafted goods in a vibrant patchwork of shop spaces. Visitors enjoy 52 weekends a year of handmade happiness shopping, taking classes, and meeting the makers every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on the First Thursday of the month from 4 to 8 p.m. for San Pedro’s First Thursdays. Parking and admission are free.
It is also a home of the San Pedro Art Association. [LINK]
The marketplace hosts daily demonstrations and make-and-takes/DIYs, as well as live music, special events, and delicious food from fun food trucks. Be sure to check the calendar of events for the most current information.
CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles recently welcomed craft brewer BROUWERIJ WEST to the marketplace. Brouwerij (it’s just BROO-er-ee!) West is located in the newly renovated Warehouse No 9; reinventing the western half of the old warehouse as a 15,000-barrel regional brewery complete with tours and tastings. Brouwerij West will be joined in the east half of Warehouse 9 by an artisanal food maker’s space, with a community kitchen, shared kitchen space, epicurean delights and small restaurant experiences, a floral studio and a farm-fresh produce stand, all now in conceptual design stages.
