Victorian Mourning Exhibit
The Banning residence is dressed to look as it might have during the period following the death of Gen. Phinneas Banning in early March, 1885 in traditional Victorian mourning fashion. Visitors will learn how Victorian society was bound and structured by elaborate rules of etiquette when it came to mourning the loss of family members. Highlighting the exhibit is an exact replica of a late 20th century casket in the Parlor. Banning Museum, 401 East M Street, Wilmington. 310-548-7777, www.BanningMuseum.org
