Great Events in the New Year on the Palos Verdes Peninsula

The Palos Verdes Peninsula is a great place to celebrate the new year--and beyond. After you ring in the new year, you’ll find there’s lots going on in January. And a real jewel of the Palos Verdes Peninsula is the Norris Theatre at the Palos Verdes Performing Arts Center. On Sunday, January 8, pianist Orion Weiss will perform with the Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay at 8 p.m. at the Norris Theatre. Mr. Weiss is recipient of the prestigious Gilmore Young Artist Award and the Avery Fisher career grant. The preview is at 7 p.m. He will perform Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances, Dances from Galanta by Kodaly, and Brahms’ piano concerto No. 1 and d minor, opus 15. Four by Four will perform Saturday, January 14 beginning at 8 p.m. also at the Norris Theatre. This group is described as “surprisingly infectious” as they pay tribute to the Beach Boys, Beatles, Bee Gees, and Motown. And the next evening Casey Macgill will perform music that swings like the “Nat ‘King’ Cole Trio meets the Mills Brothers.” Nunsense, the oddball comedy play, makes its appearance at the Norris Theatre from January 20-29.
